FREDERICK — The Carbon Valley Warriors are moving on in the playoffs. CV won 26-14 Saturday and advanced to the next round this weekend.

The Warriors finished their regular season with a win over the Boulder Bears, 34-6. The young (11- and 12-year-olds) Warriors ended up with a season record of 6-1. They outscored their opposition 153-18 over the seven-game regular season.

The Warriors play in the Coal Creek Midget Football League under the St. Vrain Chapter. The team’s head coach is Jimmie Lucero, and he has coached this group for the past four seasons. His assistants are Adam Rives, Brett Berringer and Ken Rademacher. The Warriors won the Weld County Football League championship in 2012 and finished third in the Coal Creek Midget Football in 2013.

The playoff format includes the entire Coal Creek Midget Football league, consisting of teams from Commerce City, Windsor, Berthoud, Mead, Erie, Boulder, Hyland Hills (Westminster), Longmont, Northglenn, Silver Creek, and Frederick.
