GREELEY — Weld County sheriff's deputies and strike team investigators arrested a Fort Lupton man who's been on the run since March 2.
Colton Thompson, 34, remained in the Weld County Jail on April 11 on a $50,000 cash bond, according to a press statement. Authorities issued a felony warrant for his arrest on a second-degree assault charge after a domestic violence incident. Sheriff's office spokesman Joe Moylan said authorities wanted Thompson for several criminal investigations through the sheriff's offices and other agencies in northern Colorado.
The arrest was April 9 after a tip that Thompson was at the Greeley Mall. At first, Moylan said deputies couldn't find Thompson. He later turned up at a shopping center near 10th Street and 35th Avenue.
Moylan said investigators wanted to make sure the man they saw was Thompson. After an attempt to contact Thompson as he walked to a truck, Thompson ran. Deputies arrested Thompson a short time later and learned the pickup truck was stolen from Thornton.
Thompson could face potential charges of harassment and failure to appear. Other agencies could ask for additional charges after criminal investigations.
Those with information on this or other crimes should call the sheriff's office (970-356-4015) or the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477).
