BRIGHTON — United Power, the Brighton-based energy cooperative, will hold its annual meeting and director election at 6:30 p.m., tonight (April 21) at the Armory at Brighton Cultural Center, 300 Strong St.

United Power customers who have not already returned their ballots either by mail or dropped them off at the United Power office still have the option to vote in person at tonight’s meeting. Ballots were mailed to customers at the end of March.

Four candidates are running for an open director seat in United Power’s East District. They include Fort Lupton resident and business owner, Mark Davis; Cheryl Ferne, a senior paralegal and longtime rural electric consumer; Beth Martin, a real estate broker and Pepper Pod Restaurant owner; and James Vigessa, owner of a Brighton construction firm.

In the South District, Shawn Enriques, a branch manager for Motion Industries, will challenge incumbent United Power board member, Susan Petrocco. Petrocco served four years as president of the board of directors and is co-owner of Petrocco Farms in Brighton.

Two candidates will challenge current board director, Lewis Foster, in the West District. Foster, a former auditor and controller, spent 24 years as a finance and risk manager for Tri-State Generation and Transmission. Former Dacono Mayor Wade Carlson, and Ursula J. Morgan, a real estate appraiser, certified nursing assistant and mayor pro tem for the town of Mead, are running in the West District.
