FREDERICK — Frederick police arrested two men and detained a teenager on suspicion of stealing metal from Glacier Business Park.
Frederick police announced arrests Dec. 31 in connection to a series of metal thefts in the area.
According to a release from the Frederick Police, a police officer on patrol during the pre-dawn hours Dec. 31 spotted an open gate in the Glacier Business Park located west of I-25 in the Town of Frederick.
The site, which is owned by W.L. Contractors, Inc., had been previously victimized by metal thefts. Closer investigation resulted in finding a black GMC Yukon parked in the lot. It belongs to one of two adult males also found at the scene.
Arrested were Isaac Mario Santana, age 21, and Victor James Bustamante, age 23, of Lakewood. A male juvenile, age 16, was also detained. Santana, Bustamante and the male juvenile are to be charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Theft, and 2nd Degree Trespass. Santana and Bustamante were taken to the Weld County jail in Greeley. The juvenile is to be released to his parents.
Toni Winkler, the owner of W.L. Contractors, Inc., wants to know if the suspects are part of any larger crime ring.
“If so, I would like them to get everybody,” Winkler said. “There was another place in Denver that was hit pretty hard by these gentlemen.”
Winkler expects more information to come out about the alleged thefts as the investigation continues.
“These guys have hit me four times in the last few months,” Winkler said. “So I think this is huge. And quite honestly, there’s going to be a lot of information coming out. This is a very active investigation.”
Both men were released on bail Jan. 2. Both were due in court 3:30 Jan. 6 in Weld County District Court in Greeley.
