Brighton police say two people died after an Aug. 28 crash east of town.

It happened shortly before 9 a.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 76 at 144th Avenue.

A tweet from the department said the crash involved one car. Two women and two men were on board. Details about the crash are not clear. One of the women  died at the scene. One of the men died en route to an area hospital The other two victims are at the area hospital for treatment of what police call "serious injuries."

No names have been released.

I-76 reopened shortly before 2 p.m. following the investigation.
