State 4A wrestling: Frederick's wrestling season concludes

DENVER -- All four of the Frederick wrestlers who qualified for the state 4A tournament are out of the compeition.

Santana Leon (24-7) won once in three starts at 126 pounds. Wyatt Schust (13-14) lost his two matches, as did 144-pounder Ricardo Moreno (23-15). Adrian Casillas, the Golden Eagles' 144-pounder, won one match in three tries. He finished with a record of 27-13.

1 p.m. Feb. 17

DENVER -- Frederick's Santana Leon moved into the quarterfinals of the state 4A wrestling tournament at Ball Arena. He beat Denver South's CJ Morm 8-4 in the opening round of 126-pound matches. Leon faces Roosevelt's Chris LaLonde in the quarterfinals this afternoon.

Wyatt Schust dropped into the consolation bracket at 138 pounds. Keyton Young of Palisade pinned Schust in 1:49. Schust faces Donte Roane of Mesa Ridge in the consolation rounds later this afternoon.

Ricardo Moreno of the Golden Eagles also is in the consolation draw. Noah Garcia-Salazar pinned Moreno in 3:37 of their first-round match at 144 pounds. Vista Ridge;s Siulas Arnds awaits Moreno in the consolation round. And at 157 pounds, Pueblo East's Sully Deherrera beat Frederick's Adrian Casillas 10-4 in the first round. Casillas faces PuebloWest's Tom Cruz.
