State 3A softball: Fort Lupton advances to quarterfinals for first time

AURORA -- Fort Lupton's softball team did something it's never done in school history Oct. 21.

The Bluedevils advanced to the state 3A softball tournament quarterfinals by beating Strasburg 7-4 at Aurora Sports Park. Rylee Balcazar and Reagan Mewbourne had home runs to pace the offense.

Eaton spotted the Bluedvils two, first-inning runs before rallying to beat Fort Lupton 6-2 in the quarterfinals, ending FLHS' season.

Fort Lupton won its first regional softball championship and won 18 of 27 games.
