It happened around 7 p.m. May 12 in the 200 block of North Fifth Avenue. A tweet from the police department said the victim, a man, sustained minor injuries. He left the area before officers arrived.
The investigation took police to the Brentwood Townhones in the 2100 block of Bridge Street. As detectives worked the area, police told residents to stay in their homes. That order was lifted around 10 p.m.
"Our investigation has revealed the suspect has fled the area and is believed to be outside of Brighton," the departmennt's tweet said. "The suspect and victim were known to each other, and we do not believe there is a threat to the community."
No names have been released.
