Sailor tabbed with Aims CC honor

GREELEY – The Aims Community College faculty chose assistant professor of English and humanities Rebecca Sailor as its faculty member of the year.
Sailor earned an associate’s degree from Joliet Junior College and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of St. Francis. She earned a master’s in English from the University of Northern Colorado.

Sailor joined Aims Community College in 2006. She is a member of the Two Year College English Association Southwest, as well as a review editor for Teaching English at the Two-Year College. She directs the Writer’s Community at Aims, a pilot program that supports writing across disciplines for students and faculty.
“I have the pleasure of knowing a number of great teachers,” said English Department Chairperson Evan Oakley. “Rebecca Sailor stands out as one of the few completely equipped teachers I’ve come across not simply well-liked by students but pedagogically challenging; not simply an energized scholar, but collegial and consensus building– not only full of initiative, but with the tenacity to actually make the initiatives happen.”
Sailor said she was honored to receive the award.
“I’m grateful to be recognized by my peers for this award,” she said. “I’m immensely lucky to work with faculty and college leaders who encourage, support and model excellence in the classroom.”
