FORT LUPTON - A Lochbuie man died Wednesday after a collision on state Highway 52 near Weld County Road 23.

The Weld County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Charles Andersen.

The crash happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. Colorado State Patrol trooper Heather Cobler said a Dodge pick-up truck and Andersen's Geo Metro were traveling westbound on SH 52. The Dodge slowed to make a southbound turn onto WCR 23 when the Andersen's car rear-ended the pick-up truck. Andersen died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
Both SH 52 and WCR 23 were closed for more than two hours for the CSP's on-scene investigation. The roads were reopened shortly before 11:30 a.m.   The investigation was continuing.
