FORT LUPTON -- The Weld County Sheriff's Posse, the Urban Youth Farm, the Adams County Sheriff's Posse and the Denver Police Mounted Unit will carry the proclamation for the Greeley Independence Stampede from Denver through Fort Lupton and on into Greeley starting June 22.
The event begins at 9:30 a.m. on the west steps of the state Capitol. The group will make a stopover at the Fort in Fort Lupton. The hosts will be the South Platte Valley Historical Society and the Urban Farm Youth. It will be a campout and a buffalo burger dinner with entertainment from the Rendezvous Trapper group and local music.
The posse and members of the youth group leave at 7 a.m., June 23, to continue the journey to Greeley. The plan to to arrive at Island Grove Park in time for a 5 p.m. proclamation ceremony. The Stampede Art Show begins at 6 p.m.
