Florence M. Schaefer, 93, of Brighton, passed away Jan. 10, 2011. in Brighton.
She was born July 29, 1917, in Brighton to Herman and Mary (Wall) Rosenbrock. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1935 and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Florence married Martin Schaefer Feb. 16, 1947, in Brighton.
She was a lifetime resident of Brighton and the Fort Lupton areas. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton and joined Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fort Lupton in 1963. Florence was a member of the Good Shepherd Home of the West and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered for the Fort Lupton Meals on Wheels and Fort Lupton Food Bank.
Florence helped operate the family farm and worked for Beach-Creamery in Denver and was a seamstress for Stille’s Cleaners and Fort Lupton Cleaners. She retired from farming in 1976 and then enjoyed traveling the country with her husband. Florence also enjoyed playing Mahjong, a Chinese puzzle game.
Florence is survived by her son, Charles (Nona) Schaefer, of Fort Lupton, and sister, Leona Harms, of Littleton; two grandchildren, Janelle (Brian) Wise and Corinne (Todd) Gabel; and three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Riley and Clay.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m., Jan. 12, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton. Funeral is 10 a.m., Jan. 13, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fort Lupton. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.
