Evelyn E. Olson, 94, of Brighton died Nov. 8, 2011, at Porter Hospice in Littleton.
She was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Hudson, Wis., to Martin and Fern Hanson. Evelyn grew up in Menomonie, Wis. She graduated from Menomonie High School in 1935 then graduated from Dunn County Normal School in 1936 and became a rural school teacher, teaching grades one through eight in a one room school house. In 1942 she married LaRoy H. Olson in Lincoln, Neb. They moved to Alaska in 1945, where their son, David, was born in 1948. In 1951, they moved to Aurora, where LaRoy was employed as an instructor at Lowry Air Force Base. In 1954 their daughter, Bonnie, was born. Evelyn was a homemaker and worked as a dental assistant in the 1960s in Aurora.
Evelyn was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora.
She moved to Windsor Gardens in Denver in 1988. From 2002 to 2008, she lived at Inglenook in Brighton. She moved in with her son and family in Brighton in 2008.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1987; and her sister, Irene Anderson, in 2010.
She is survived by her children, David (Shalene) Olson, of Brighton, and Bonnie (Harry) Schulz, of Peachtree City, Ga.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Nov. 12. Interment was at Eastlawn Cemetery in Aurora.
