One person is in the hospital after what authorities are describing as a road-rage incident near Platteville.

Officials said the victim is a 16-year-old boy. It's not clear whether the teen is still in the hospital

It happened shortly before 10:15 a.m. Sept. 2 on U.S. Highway 85 north of state Highway 60.

Weld County Sheriff's Department spokesman Joe Moylan said witnesses told deputies a road-rage incident prompted the shooting. Details are sketchy.  THe victim was a passenger in one of the involved cars.

Deputies are looking for a 2007 to 2013 dark blue Toyota Tundra, perhaps a Limited, with unknown license plates. It was last seen traveling north or west from U.S. 85 near La Salle.

A Hispanic man and woman were on board, Moylan said. The woman has dark hair, and the man was wearing sunglasses. Call 970-350-9600, option 4 and reference case No. 22W033619.

"Deputies think this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the general public," Moylan said. "However, the suspects are armed. If seen, do not approach and call 911 immediately."
