BRIGHTON — The Richie Sena Memorial Scholarship Poker Run enters its 11th and final year this summer, with the event slated to run Saturday, June 14, starting and ending in Brighton.

According to organizer MariBel Sena, registration will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Jerry’s Bar & Grill, 130 N. Main St., and the ride itself will be approximately 200 miles before concluding about 6 p.m. at Jordinelli’s, 25 N. Main St., and followed by dinner provided by Santiago’s and music by DJ Ern.

The Sena family have honored the memory of former Bromley East Charter School student Richie Sena, who passed away in 2003, with the memorial scholarship, which is funded by the poker run. Over the past 10 years, the scholarship committee has raised $33,500 for scholarships for 12 seniors in the Brighton area.

“Although we are sad to see this great event come to an end, the time has come that we must say good-bye to all the riders and our supporters,” Sena said about the ultimate ride this year. “Mike, Richie’s dad made a promise to him that we would keep this going until the year he would have graduated; this year marks that year.”

Bikes, cars and trucks alike a welcome to participate in the ride. Prizes will be awarded for best and worst hands, and there will be drawings at all stops along the ride. The cost is $30 per couple or $20 per single rider.

For more information about this year’s ride, contact Jim Sena at 303-655-1088.
