  • Benefit golf tournament for FLHS wrestlers July 29

    The seventh annual Fort Lupton High School wrestling golf tournament fundraiser starts at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29 at Coyote Creek Golf Course, 222 Clubhouse Drive, Fort Lupton. Proceeds benefit the wrestling program at FLHS. Email bluedevilwrestling_68@yahoo.com with questions.

  • Basketball camp at Frederick HS July 31

     Frederick High School’s girls basketball team is hosting a basketball camp for fourth- through eighth-graders. The four-day camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon Monday, July 31, to Thursday, Aug. 3, at the school.

    The cost is $75 for the week. The price includes a T-shirt and lunch on the final day. Sign up at Frederick High School.

  • Basketball coach opening

    Fort Lupton High School needs a new girls basketball coach. Former boss Noel Potter was on the bench for two seasons.

    The school wants candidates with certification and/or a teaching license. Teaching positions are available. FLHS also wants candidates with three years experience in coaching either high-school boys or girls basketball; head coaching experience preferred.

  • Steve Vincel Memorial Golf Tournament Aug. 19

    South Adams County Fire Department is one of the sponsors of a benefit golf tournament at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Park Hill golf Course, 4141 E. 35th Ave., Denver.

    The ninth annual Steve Vincel Memorial Golf Tournament is a fundraiser for cancer victims and their families. His family and friends are among the other sponsors.

  • Jordinelli's benefit golf tournament Aug. 19

    Jordinelli’s annual charity golf tournament for cancer research tees off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, with a shotgun start at Heritage at Todd Creek Golf Course, 8455 Heritage Drive, Thornton.

    The cost is $100 per golfer. The cost for lunch is $10 (it’s free to those in the tournament.).

  • Martinez-Irwin benefit golf tournament July 22

    A benefit golf tournament, car show and dinner to help the families of the victims of this spring’s home explosion and fire in Firestone is set for 8 a.m., Saturday, July 22, at Bella Rosa Golf Course, 5830 Bella Rosa Parkway, Frederick.

    The cost for golf is $100 for 18 holes. There are just 72 spots available. The cost for the car show (it runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at American Legion Post 1985, 870 First St., Firestone) is $20 per vehicle. 

    There will be a 50-50 raffle as well.

  • All-conference awards for four Frederick soccer players

    Frederick High School landed four players on the all-Tri Valley League all-conference team.

    The four were Enrique Barrera, Edwin Hernandez, Andres Olave and Abraham Soto.

    The North Valley Athletic Association basketball clinic starts at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, at the city of Evans Recreation Center, 1100 37th St., Evans.

  • All-state softball games beckon pair of Warriors

    Frederick’s Paris Woods and Julia Wyatt were tabbed to play in the Colorado High School Coaches Association all-state game in Alamosa in the spring.


  • Fort Lupton HS tabs new baseball coach

    Stephen Flickinger is the new baseball coach at Fort Lupton High School. He was the junior-varsity coach a aseason ago.

    He teaches social studies at the school and came to Fort Lupton by way of Michigan.

    Flickinger replaces Jeff Allen, who stepped down after two seasons.
