  • Coed basketball registration continues at CV rec center
    Registration for the Carbon Valley rec center’s coed first- and second-grade division basketball league continues. Games are Saturdays against other district teams. Stop in at 701 Fifth St., Frederick, or call 303-833-3660, ext. 111.  
  • Youth basketball sign-ups through Oct. 17
    Registration is under way for the Fort Lupton youth basketball program for third- through sixth-graders. Sign up by Oct. 10, and the fee is $55. Afterward, the fee increases to $65. The final registration deadline is Oct. 17. Practices start the week of Nov. 10. The first games are Dec. 6.  Volunteer coaches are needed. Call 303-857-4200.
  • Racquetball
    The first Killer-Z racquetball tournament begins Nov. 13 for A level players and Nov. 20 for B level players. Both tourneys run three days at the Carbon Valley Recreation Center, 701 Fifth St. Pool play begins at 5 p.m. the first day of each tournament. Semifinals and championship rounds start at 1 p.m. Sundays. The fee is $25. Register at the rec center, 701 Fifth St., or at recdistrict.com.
  • SourceGas fuels rec sports
    The Carbon Valley Recreation District has $650 in extra money to spend on its scholarship program. The money comes by way of a contribution from Rose Dreith and Dan Pickett of SourceGas Colorado. “We are happy to support youth sports program in such a fine facility as the Carbon Valley Rec Center, said Pickett, who is the branch manager for SourceGas.
  • Fall Clean-Up Day Sept. 27 in Fort Lupton
    Fall Clean-Up Day, set for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Public Works Shop at 800 12th Ave. in Fort Lupton, offers residents a convenient opportunity to dispose of unused household items and yard debris (No household trash, concrete, Freon based appliances, or electronics will be accepted; some items may require a fee). There is a suggested donation of $10, and there is a $5 fee for each tire dropped off.
  • Register for metro wrestling program
    FORT LUPTON – Sign up for the Fort Lupton Metro Wrestling team through Oct. 31. The first practice is at 6 p.m., Oct. 2. Scholarships are available.  Call 303-717-9676 with questions.
  • Cross country returns to Fort Lupton
    BRIGHTON -- Fort Lupton made its return to cross country Sept. 5 at the Horizon Popsicle Invitational meet at the Adams County Fairgrounds. Fort Lupton's Fabian Lujan took third in the boys race, which was a 4K affair. His time was 14:14. Brye Windell was fourth after posting a time of 14:23. John Howard (39th) finished with a time of 16:47. Johnathan Martinez was 33rd in the field with a time of 16:27. Daniel Lujan was 59th in the field. His time was 18:08. The Bluedevils were fourth in the team standings.
  • Football: Valley recaptures Bell Game supremacy
    FORT LUPTON -- Valley High School won the annual Bell Game with Fort Lupton High School Sept. 5 by a score of 31-0.' Vikings' quarterback Avery Hanzlicek threw for 114 yards and one touchdown. Victor Delgado carried the ball 20 times for 112 yards. No stats were immediately available for the Bluedevils.
  • CV swim lesson registration continues through Sept. 5
         Registration for swimming lessons continues through Sept. 5. Sessions are available Monday and Wednesday mornings, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings (registration for this batch of lessons ends Sept. 4). Call 303-833-3660 with questions.
