    Bill Bell, of Keenesburg, passed away at his winter home in Bayview Texas, May 17. He was born to W.D. and Rubyann (Nelson) Bell Nov. 17, 1936, in Longmont. He married Carol C. Muse Feb. 7, 1956.

  • Juana Covarrubias Sauceda

    Juana Covarrubias Sauceda, 88, of Brighton, passed away at her home May 30. Juana was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Jourdanton, Texas, to Federico Saucedo and Celestina Saucedo.

    Juana married Alejandro Covarrubias De la Rosa in the mid-1940s. Her most notable traits were her enduring love and dedication to her family and friends.  She was always up to some sort of shenanigans and had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor.  

  • Mary Katherine Getz

    Mary Katherine “Kathy” Getz (McQuaid), of Brighton, passed away May 28 with her family by her side.

    Kathy was born to parents Francis and Jean McQuaid Feb. 25, 1954, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She attended Saint Albert High School and graduated in 1972.  After moving to Colorado for work, she married the love of her life Ronald “Ron” Getz, in 1983, and the couple had two children in May 1986.

    Miguel “Mike” Garcia, 64, of Wattenberg, passed away May 30.

    Mike was born in Brighton Feb. 17, 1954, to Ben and Stella (Giron).  Mike attended schools in Fort Lupton, graduating from Fort Lupton High School in 1972.  Mike married Theresa Navarro in Wattenberg May 8, 1976.  Together they had two children; Mikal and Robert. 

  • Daniel Rodney Trujillo

    Daniel Rodney Trujillo, 63, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Dec. 3. He was born March 7, 1954, in Brighton, to John and Josephine Trujillo.

    Dan spent half of his life in Colorado and the other half in southwest Florida. He retired in 2017 after spending 25 years as a sales representative for NAPA Auto Parts. A hard worker, Dan’s real love was life. He loved coaching Jake and Janna’s baseball and softball teams and was the proud owner of a 1967 El Camino.

  • Karen L. Henkell

    Brighton resident, Karen L. Henkell, passed away May 4 at her home in Inglenook at Brighton.

     Karen was born in Denver Oct. 2, 1953, to Arthur T. and M. Catherine “Kay” Henkell. Karen was the youngest of three sisters raised by their parents in the University Hills neighborhood of  southeast Denver.

    Charles L. “Chuck” Phelps, 86, of Brighton, passed away April 12 in Brighton. He was born in Pueblo Nov. 8, 1931, to Jean (Dickinson) and James Phelps Sr.

  • Lucille Marie McPherson

    Lucille Marie McPherson died April 30 at the age of 94. She was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Erie, to Sarah and Fritz Hefftner.

    She grew up in Erie and spent her summers in Pitkin. She graduated from Erie High School in 1941 and married Donald McPherson Aug. 20, 1941, in Kimball, Nebraska. They met at a jitney dance in Longmont and were still dancing in their 80s at the Elks Club in Brighton.

  • Agnes Richmond

    Agnes Richmond passed away peacefully May 4 in Greeley. She lived in Colorado since she was a child and was born in Centropolis, Kansas. She remained connected with friends and family after she moved.  She married Claud Richmond sr. Aug. 25, 1935, and had four children. Her husband; and her eldest son, Charles Richmond, preceded her in death.
