  • Shirley Rae Barham

    Shirley Rae Barham, 66, of Fort Lupton, died Sept. 24, 2009, at University Hospital in Aurora.

        She was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Garnett, Kan., to Norman and Ida (Worthington) Henry and grew up in the area. Shirley married Ray Cummings in 1961 in Lyndon, Kan. They had one son and later divorced. Shirley married Russell Barham in 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas, and they had one son.

        She was a homemaker and an honorary member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 102.

  • Melissa Jane Golay

        Melissa Jane Golay, 49, of Platteville, died Oct. 14, 2009, in Lafayette.

        She was born Feb. 18, 1960, in Hamburg, Iowa, to Benjamin and Mary Jane Klepac. She graduated from Berthoud High School and worked for Seagate Industries. She married Troy Golay Aug. 30, 2002.

        Survivors include her parents, of Berthoud; sister, Janet, of Nunn; two daughters, Jessica, of Northglenn; and Jennifer, of Arvada; and son, Ben, of Longmont; and eight grandchildren.

  • Joseph E. Grein

        Joseph E. Grein, 28, of Brighton, died Oc. 12, 2009

        He was born March 24, 1981, in Denver, to Kevin Grein and Carrie (Boettcher) Grein. Joe grew up in the Brighton area and attended school at Zion Lutheran Church and School. Joe graduated from Brighton High School in 1999. He attended college at CSU and CU-Denver.  Joe married Susan Arambula Jan. 27, 2006, in Brighton. His son, Jacob Eugene, was born Feb. 13, 2007.

  • Theodore W. Burkhardt

    U.S. veteran Theodore W. Burkhardt, 78, of Fort Lupton, died Oct. 5, 2009, at his home.

    He was born July 4, 1931, in Fort Lupton, to Robert B. and Lillian H. (Werbin) Burkhardt. Ted graduated from Fort Lupton High School in 1949. He married Mary Grein Aug. 1, 1954, in Brighton. Ted was a member of the Local 68 as an electrician. He was employed by Strohminger Electric, of Denver, from 1955 until 1982. He also worked for the Brighton and Fort Lupton Lions Club. Ted helped his son farm on property east of Fort Lupton.

  • Ariana Gonzalez

    Ariana Gonzalez, 3, of Platteville, died Oct. 5, 2009, in Brighton.

    She was born March 21, 2006, in Brighton, to Marcelino and Guadalupe Gonzalez.

    Survivors include her parents; brother, Marco Antonio Gonzalez; and sister, Danielle Gonzalez; and grandparents, Arnulfo and Elena Rivera, all of Platteville.

    Mass of Christian burial was Oct. 12 at St. William Catholic Church in Fort Lupton. Interment was private.

    Erlinger Funeral Home in Fort Lupton handled arrangements.

  • Lucy Francisca McVay

    Lucy Francisca McVay, 65, of Fort Lupton, died Oct. 12, 2009, in her home.

    She was born July 23, 1944 in Trinidad. Lucy attended elementary school in Trinidad and junior high and high school in Lafayette. She married Richard McVay May 24, 1973, in Longmont. Lucy held various jobs in the hostess industry but primarily she was a homemaker

  • Eugene Edward Glover Jr.

    “Sonny” Eugene Edward Glover Jr., 72, of Fort Lupton, died Sept. 27, 2009, at his home.

    He was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Fort Lupton, to Eugene E. and Ruby (Eager) Glover. He married Ramona Brewer in 1956 in Greeley.

    He was a resident of Fort Lupton most of his life where he raised his family. Sonny was a Christian evangelist, living his religion and loving Christ.

  • Richard J. McCarthy

    Richard J. McCarthy, 78, of Fort Lupton, died Oct. 8, 2009, at his home.

    He was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Baltimore, M.D., to Joseph J. and Margaret D. (Tribbe) McCarthy. He married Carolyn L. Maurer Feb. 23, 1956, in Baltimore.

  • Francisco Martinez

    Francisco “Frank” Martinez, 58, of Platteville, died Sept. 18, 2009, at the Hospice and Palliative Care Unit at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.

    He was born Oct. 4, 1950, in Los Fresnos, Texas, to Matias and Guadalupe (Carbajal) Martinez. He graduated from Weld Central High School in 1968. He attended ITT to become a diesel mechanic. He worked for Werner Enterprises for 25 years. He married Judy Bollig April 20, 1996, in Fort Lupton.

  • Darrell D. Lewis

    U.S. veteran Darrell D. Lewis, 67, of Erie, died Aug. 23, 2009, after a long fight with cancer.
