    Anahi Pacheco and Emilio Melendez, of Dacono, announce the birth of their daughter, Yareli Melendez Pacheco.

    Yareli was born March 6, 2009, at Platte Valley Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds, and measured 19 inches.

    Yareli’s grandparents are Irma and Leo Pacheco, of Dacono, Rosa Lora, of Mexico, and Emiliano Melendez. Yareli joins Jullye at home.


    Christina and Robert Toalson, of Brighton, announce the birth of their son, Skyler Anthony Toalson.

  • Norfleet to celebrate 80th birthday

    Family and friends are invited to help Arlene Norfleet, of Fort Lupton, celebrate her 80th birthday at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m., May 2, at the First Baptist Church, 1115 First St., Fort Lupton.

    Arlene was born May 2, 1929, in Gilcrest, to George and Eva Wiggett. She married Norman Norfleet and they were married for more than 60 years. Arlene worked for Fort Lupton School lunch service from the late 1960s until the early 1980s. She also worked for the House of Smoke from the mid 1980s until retiring in 1996.

    Justin and Kristall James welcome a daughter, Kailley James.

    Kailley was born Feb. 8, 2009, at Platte Valley Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds and measured 19 ¾ inches.

    Grandparents are Virgina Smith and Debbie and David James, all of Fort Lupton. Great-grandparent is John Frye, also of Fort Lupton.

    She has an older brother, Justin, 2.


    Nicole and Jordon Penrod, of Fort Lupton, announce the birth of their daughter, Kalea Jane Penrod.

  • Clement graduates from basic training

    Army Pvt. Cody M. Clement, of Fort Lupton, completed basic training at Fort Benning Army Infantry base in Fort Benning, Ga. Clement completed 15 weeks of training designed to challenge new Army recruits both physically and mentally.

    He is the son of Anita Diller of Fort Lupton and grandson of Lorrie Prince and Mike Southwick of Brighton.

    Guadalupe Quintero and Juan Jauregui, of Brighton, the birth of their son, Achilles Juan Jauregui.

    Achilles was born Feb. 15, 2009, at Platte Valley Medical Center. He weighed 4 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 17 inches.

    Achilles’ grandparents are Yvette Quintero and Jesus Jauregqui. Great-grandmother is Rose Quintero.


    Victoria Newby and Steven Martinez, of Brighton, announce the birth of their son, Steven Anthony Martinez Jr.

    David and Kristy Jordan, of Aurora, announce the arrival of their twins, born Jan. 12, 2009, at Rose Medical Center.

    Ava Kathleen was born at 11:42 p.m., weighing 5 pounds, 8 ounces, and measuring 18 ¾ inches. Lance Robert was born at 11:45 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and measuring 19 4 inches.

    Grandparents are Dave and Kathy Jacovetta, of Brighton, and Rob and Sue Jordan, of Aurora. Greatgrandparents are Bea Wegner, of Brighton, and Harold and Betty Wikel, of Ann Arbor, Mich.


  • Winterfest kicks off holiday season Sunday

    Winterfest, the official start to Fort Lupton’s holiday season, is Sunday, Dec. 7.

        At the rec center, bed races start the fun at 2:30 p.m., and Santa arrives at 3 p.m.  There’s a winter carnival from 3 to 6 p.m. in the gym with games for the kids.  There’s a small fee, but check your Trapper’s Express for coloring pages to be exchanged for free games.  Pictures with Santa, also for a small fee will be taken at the same time.

    Nov. 18

    9:14 a.m. Medical assist, 7000 block of Harold for a person with a breathing problem who was transported by paramedics to North Colorado Medical Center.

    Nov. 19

     11:02 a.m., Medical assist, 12000 block of WCR 6 for a person with a seizure who was transported to Platte Valley Medical Center. 

    7:36 p.m. Medical assist, 100 block of South McKinley Avenue for a child who was taken by ambulance to Platte Valley Medical Center.

    It’s gone…

          A 9-year-old Yukon parked in front of a woman’s house on the 700 block of Park Avenue disappeared Nov. 16.  The woman said she left the car at about 10 p.m. and when she returned shortly before midnight, the vehicle was gone.  She said she thought she had put the keys in her pocket but couldn’t find them.

  • Egger-Callaway wed

    Elizabeth Ann Egger and Shaun Matthew Callaway were married Oct. 18, 2008, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Greeley. A reception followed at Aims Corporate Education Center. 

        Egger is the daughter of Rick and Frances Egger, of Herington, Kan.  She graduated from Herington High School in 1998 and she is a graduate of Emporia State University and the University of Wyoming.  She is an accountant in Denver.
