        Laila was born Feb. 14, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. She weighed 5 pounds, 10 ½ ounces and measured 19 ¾ inches.

        Grandparents are GiGi Stough, Bobby Campbell II and JoAnn Vaughn.

        Sister, Kimberley Joann Campbell, 6, welcomes Laila.


        Dyamon Wilkinson, of Commerce City and Otis Lee Slaughter, of Omaha, Neb., welcome a son, Darius Rashad Wilkinson-Hampton.

  • Nelson family thankful for support

        Goldie Nelson and her girls thank their families, neighbors and friends that brought food, cards and made calls during the last month and for the funeral of our husband and dad, Donald Nelson.

        We also want to thank the ladies of the United Methodist Church for the special luncheon they made.

        Brittany Gilmore, of Brighton, welcomes a daughter, Ezra Mickel Gilmore.

        Ezra was born Feb. 3, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. She weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce and measured 20 inches.

        Ezra is welcomed by siblings, Demetrius, 4, and Zoey, 2.

        Margarita Retana and Saul V. Chacon, of Hudson, announce the birth of their daughter, Arely Noemi Chacon Retana.

        Arely was born Jan. 20, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and measured 20 1/2 inches.

        Arely joins sibling, Daisy, 7, at home.


        Jessica Carmichael, of Brighton, and Ruben Casas, of Commerce City, announce the birth of their son, Ruben James Casas.

  • Sugihara-Tuck wed

    Evan Sugihara, of Fort Lupton, and Erica Tuck, of Erie, were married in a civil ceremony at the Greeley Court House Dec. 28, 2009. Sugihara is a 1999 Fort Lupton High School graduate and Tuck is a 1999 Erie High School graduate. A reception is planned later in 2010.

        Mayra and Alejandro Flores, of Commerce City, welcome a son, Alveuro Flores.

        He was born Dec. 10, 2009, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. Alveuro weighed 7 pounds, 12 ½ ounces.

        Gradnparents are Irene and Rito Duran, of Commerce City, and Miguel Flores, of Mexico.

        Alveuro is welcomed by sibling, Yazet Flores, 2.


        Amanda and Corey Thieman, of Lochbuie, welcome a daughter, Adelyn Jean Thieman.

  • United Power offers scholarships

        BRIGHTON — Applications are available for United Power’s 2010 Youth Programs, which include $9,500 in scholarships and all-expenses paid leadership trips to Steamboat Springs and Washington, D.C. Fifteen students in the United Power service territory will be awarded scholarships from the member-owned electric cooperative. Three youth will travel to Steamboat Springs, Colo. and three will be granted a visit to Washington, D.C. on electric cooperative youth leadership trips.

  • Thiesen to celebrate 80th birthday

    Lloyd Thiesen, of Fort Lupton, will celebrate his 80th birthday from 2 to 5 p.m., Feb. 7, with an open house in the fireside room of the First United Methodist Church, 306 Park Ave., Fort Lupton

        Lloyd was born Feb. 12, 1930, on the Penokee, Kan., mail route. He attended school in Jennings, Kan. He moved to Colorado in 1947 to a farm east of Ione. He graduated in 1949 from Fort Lupton High School. He worked for Ringsby Truck Line until he joined the Navy in 1951. He married Iva Oldson in at the First Methodist Church in Loveland.

  • Gallamore, Morris engaged

    Rebecca and Jay Leqve, of Milliken, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Alexa Rae Gallamore, to Airman 1st Class Matthew Ryon Morris. Matt is the son of Stephanie and Ken Morris, also from Milliken.  

        Lexi is a student and junior at Roosevelt High School in Johnstown. After graduation, in May of 2011, she will pursue a career in elementary education.
