    Smith

        Rebecca and Travis Smith, of Brighton, announce the birth of their son, Adam Smith.  Adam was born July 17, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center.  He weighed 5 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 19 inches.

        Adam’s grandparents are David and Jennie Perry, of Vernal, Utah, Jody and Tim Barnes, of Centennial, and Larry Smith of Tuscon, Ariz.

  • Hometown Heroes

    Sgt. Curtis Holland and family will be visiting his hometown of Fort Lupton this week before his deployment later this year.      His parents, Kenny and Christine Espinoza, will be hosting a going-away party for him July 31. 

        His family would especially like to thank Dominick from WishBone Chicken in Westminster for a great discount on their chicken and to Phillips 66 on U.S. Highway 85 for all the ice for the party.

        Loren Morales and Eloy Cossio, of Fort Lupton, announce the birth of their daughter, Gabriela Sofia Cossio. Gabriela was born July 5, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 19 1/2 inches.

        Gabriela’s grandparents are Alvaro and Leticia Morales, of Brighton, Salvador Morales, of Fort Lupton, Eloy and Mayela Cossio, of Broomfield, and Abel and Cruz Cossio.

        Gabriela joins sibling Natalia Isela Cossio, 4, at home.

  • Ramirez deployed to Afghanistan

    Army Spc. Felix A. Ramirez has deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan, to support the mission of Operation Enduring Freedom.

    Ramirez, a 2004 Fort Lupton High School graduate, is an air traffic control equipment and subsystems repairer assigned to the Task Force Destiny, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Kandahar Air Field. He has served in the military for three years. He is the son of Martha and Lucino Ramirez, of Fort Lupton.

    Bolyard

        Jennifer and Ralph Bolyard, of Brighton, announce the birth of their son, Cooper Bolyard.  Cooper was born June 29, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center.  He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 20 inches.

        Cooper’s grandparents are Mike and Linda Nudd, of Brighton, and Ralph and Nancy Bolyard, of New Windsor, Md.

        His great grandparents are Lillis Swanberg, of Thornton, and Elizabeth Rice, of Frederick, Md.

    Delores (Lola) Rodello was born in Chaperito, New Mexico, July 13, 1910.  Lola married Rupert Rodello Sr. at the age of 16 in 1916 in New Mexico.

        Adam was born May 29, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. He weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 21 inches.

        Andrea Camacho and Zachary Meyers, of Fort Lupton, announce the birth of a daughter, Olivia Oasis Meyers.

        Olivia was born June 9, 2010, at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. She weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 19 inches.

  • Rubio receives Koshio scholarship

    Emmanuel Rubio, a 2010 Fort Lupton High School graduate, is this year’s recipient of the Floyd H. Koshio Memorial Scholarship.

        The scholarship, created in 1991 by friends and family of former Fort Lupton residents Floyd and Ina Koshio, recognizes students who choose to give back to the community through volunteer work. Rubio has been active in the community by volunteering at a local site in the 2008 Presidential Election, 9Health Fair and the Warm Hearts, Warm Babies donation drive.

  • Furusho honored as Lions’ Melvin Jones Fellow

        FORT LUPTON — Dedicated Lions Club member Dave Furusho was honored June 15 as the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award at the annual installation banquet.

        The Melvin Jones Fellowship is the highest honor conferred by the Lions Club International Foundation. Furusho joins the ranks of some of the most prominent Lions of the world.
