  • Kidz Quiltz book sale July 19 and 20

        Kidz Quiltz is open the doors to their facility, 457 Park Ave., for bookworms, looky-loos and bargain hunters during a fundraiser book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 19 and 20.
        The cost is $5 per bag of books, and grab bags are available for 50 cents each. There will be a wide variety of both fiction and nonfiction available.

  • Her Cup of Tea July 16

        The Fort Lupton Community Center, 203 S. Harrison Ave., presents a dress-up party to remember.
        Her Cup of Tea, for ages 3 to 11, will feature fancy dresses, feather boas, frilly hats, purses, jewelry and gloves for the young ones to wear while enjoying tea. There will be a supervised bracelet craft, a fashion show, modeling lessons, pink lemonade tea, lace tablecloths and fine china tea cups.
        The event runs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16. Cost is $20 per person. Call 303-857-4200 for details.

  • Breakfast for dinner benefit for Mission Fund July 10

    FORT LUPTON — The First United Methodist Church has a way to help support a mission trip without even leaving the community.
        An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for dinner is slated for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the Branding Iron, 11 First St., with all proceeds going to the church’s 2013 Mission Fund.

  • Fort Lupton Trapper Days seeks parade entries

        FORT LUPTON — The Fort Lupton Trapper Days Committee is seeking entries for the annual Trapper Days community celebration set for Sept. 5 through 8.

        This year’s theme is “Looking Forward through the Lens of Our Past” and is based on the rich historical heritage of the Fort Lupton area.

        The Trapper Days Parade Committee is seeking entries for the parade to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. There is no entry fee although pre-registration in the parade is required.

  • Curb painting brings diverse groups together for Fort Lupton community

        FORT LUPTON — The idea of a “Curb Painting Party” might sound like a page out of Tom Sawyer’s book, but for the groups gathered Saturday along Denver Avenue, the smiles were as bright as the fresh coat of paint on the downtown sidewalks.

        City planner Amy Wilson created the event to help beautify Fort Lupton and encourage community involvement after she heard the suggestion from the city’s planning committee.

  • Beginning ballet/jazz starts Aug. 3

        Registration continues for the Fort Lupton Recreation Center’s beginning ballet and jazz classes for 5- to 9-year-olds.
        Another class starts Aug. 3 and continues for the rest of August, and the last one starts Sept. 21 and continues through Oct. 26. Sessions are from 10:35 to 11:35 a.m. Call 303-857-4200.

  • Platte Valley Medical Center receives advanced certification for stroke care

        BRIGHTON — Platte Valley Medical Center has been recognized with Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers by the Joint Commission, in conjunction with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

        The achievement signifies the hospitals dedication to fostering better outcomes for patients, a hospital news release said, as fewer than 20 percent of major US and Colorado hospitals are stroke certified.

  • Richard and Margie Imhof celebrate 70th anniversary

    You might see them walking side by side in Fort Lupton for their afternoon stroll.  This is the way their 70 years have been together.

        Dick and Marge married on April 19, 1943, in Fort Lupton.  They settled down in Fort Lupton and began a family. They have three children, Betty Taylor, of Longmont, Donnie (Myra) Imhof, of Central City, Neb., and Susie (Paul) Patzkowsky, of Longmont.

  • Fort Lupton Optimist Club garage sale set for May 18

    Saturday, May 18, is the date for the annual Ft. Lupton Optimist Club garage sale at R&M Services, 622 First in Ft. Lupton. 

    The selling hours will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  In case of rain, we will hold the sale on Sunday, May 19. In addition to our usual clothes and small household items, we will have couches/hideabeds, office furniture and equipment, an organ, refrigerator, entertainment center and many more pieces of furniture. This will be one of our bigger garage sales.
