Weld Re-8 also cancels Saturday activities

Rain and flooding have forced the closure of all Weld Re-8 schools for Friday, Sept. 12. The Weld Re-8 district includes all schools in Fort Lupton and Quest Academy in Dacono.

District Superintendent Mark Payler said the decision to cancel classes was not prompted by any damage to the buildings but by the general effect of the storms on the community.

He said with the South Platte River at extreme highs and flooding and evacuations throughout the area, it was best to close schools for the safety of students, staff and faculty.
