KEENESBURG -- Weld County sheriff's deputies continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two people inside a home.

The incident started late Aug. 4. Sgt. Sean Standridge said deputies tried to arrest a man on a kidnapping warrant. Instead, the man and a juvenile barricaded themselves inside a home in the 400 block of Kaiser Avenue.

Negotiators tried to convince the juvenile to leave the home. Standridge said the youngster refused and told negotiators he was there of his own accord. Deputies were able to get a female and two other males away from the area and to a place of safety.

Standridge said negotiators lost contact with the two people inside the home around 1:30 a.m. Aug. 5. The SWAT team was able to get a camera inside and found two bodies on the floor. SWAT deputies confirmed that the suspect and the male juvenile were dead.

Standridge said the Weld County Coroner's Office will make positive identification of the two people and determine their cause of death.

The investigation was continuing, but Standridge said there is no danger to the public.
