Fort Lupton High School placed second in the Colorado 7 league tournament at Utah Park April 27.

Jessica Cook won the title at no. 1 singles. She won a pair of of third-set tiebreakers en route to her league championship. Allison Weller (No. 2 singles) and Erin Carothers (No. 3 singles) finished third. Both lost their first-round matches but came back through the bottom half of the draw to take third place.

AmberLea Crowe and Jadin Schiers took second at No. 2 doubles. Brook Laskoski and Allison Laskoski took second at No. 3 doubles, and Melia Coleman and Gracie Brucato took second at No. 2 doubles.  FLHS coach Christy Blanchard said all three doubles teams won their first-round matches.

"THey came out the same for the first set of the next match but stumbled in the second set," she said. "Third and fourth doubles both ended with close scores in the third-set tiebreaker."

FLHS' No. 1 doubles team (Bailey Gibbs and Tiffany Garcia) did not compete because of an appearance at the DECA national conference in Florida.

"As the coach, I am so proud of the way the team played hard and supported each other," said Blanchard.
