School board approves safety committee

-A A +A
By Sean Kennedy

School board members plan to create a safety committee for Fort Lupton schools, following two consecutive days of lockdowns at Fort Lupton High School in February and several national school shootings.

Parents at a March town hall meeting called for school safety audits and fundraising to pay for structural improvements to improve overall safety in schools- such as metal detectors and new doors.

The new school safety committee is expected to evaluate the security at Fort Lupton schools, to respond to community feedback and to make recommendations for improvements.
