Fort Lupton High School’s new baseball coach is Cory Miller.

He replaces Stephen Flickinger, who resigned to become a firefighter in Colorado Springs.

Miller was born and raised in Lakewood and attended Green Mountain High School. He was a three-year starter for the Rams at catcher and in the outfield. After high school, Miller played for Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College, Northeastern Community College in Sterling and finished his career at Indiana-Purdue University, which is now called Purdue University at Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

“Cory has a passion for the game, a good understanding of leading young men and a high IQ for teaching and coaching players,” said FLHS athletic director Jim Roedel in a statement. “He was recently hired at the high school to support our exceptional service students and spoke a lot about holding our student-athletes accountable both between the lines and in the classroom.”

Roedel is setting up a time for Miller to meet parents, the community and the players. In the meantime, Miller is setting up his coaching staff.
