LAFAYETTE -- Centaurus took advantage of five Fort Lupton turnovers and went on to a 46-6 Zero Week victory over the Bluedevils on the Warriors' field.

CHS' Matt Buchler and Matthew Axelrod scored three touchdowns. The Warriors rushed for more than 300 yards.

Fort Lupton's sophomore quarterback, Elijah Vargas, threw 15 yards to Owen Mellen for the Bluedevils' lone touchdown in the third period. It was Vargas' first varsity touchdown pass, and it was Mellen's first touchdown catch.

FLHS has a bye next week. Fort Lupton hosts Valley in the annual bell game at 7 p.m., Sept. 5. It'll be the Bluedevils' home opener.

We'll have more on the Centaurus game in the Aug. 27 edition of the Fort Lupton Press.
