The Trapper Days Committee has announced the winners for this year’s cooking contest, “My Favorite Treats.”
All entries were home-made, and the competing chefs were required to disclose their recipes and ingredients.
During the tasting, judges reviewed the entries without knowing who had cooked each entry.
For main dish, the award went to the aptly-named Angie Baker.
Shannon Montoya took top honor in the bread category.
Several winners were announced for desserts (which you can never have too many): Karla Baker in first place, Barbara Furusho in second place and Shannon Montoya in third.
Jennifer Diller (also appropriately named) took the first place prize for best pickles, with Bill Davis in second place and Jeanette Wiley in third place.
Diller almost took the top spot in the jams and jellies category but was edged out for the top spot by Debbie McLaughlin. Jeannette Wiley came in third place.
The contest also honored life skills instructors at the district schools in the “Other” category. Amy Holle at Fort Lupton High School received the first place prize in this category, and her fellow FLHS life skills instructor Michelle Watkins was the runner-up. Twombly life skills instructor Shelly Wyss came in third.
