FORT LUPTON — U.S. Highway 85 reopened late Friday afternoon after a massive pileup of cars and semi-truck trailers near state Highway 52. The highway was closed for almost five hours.
According to the Fort Lupton Fire Protection District, 31 vehicles -- 26 cars and five semi tractor-trailer rigs -- were involved.
Visibility along the highway corridor between Brighton and Fort Lupton was extremely limited at the time of the accidents due to the fast-moving snowfall.
At least two people were injured in the accidents and taken to Platte Valley Medical Center with minor injuries, according to scanner traffic.
