BRIGHTON --Brighton police think a youngster who died near a sporting goods store in the Prairie Center may have darted in front of a pick-up truck.
Brighton police identified the child as 2-year-old Ricardo Rocha, of Fort Lupton.
The collision happened around 4 Friday afternoon at the Dick's Sporting Goods Store. Police said Rocha was with his family at the time. Police think the driver was not able to stop the truck before the collision. After making attempts to save the child, Rocha was pronounced dead at the scene.
The parking lot near the accident scene was closed for the police department's investigation. However, the store remained open.
Brighton Police Department spokesman John Bradley said no charges would be filed against the driver of the truck.
