FORT LUPTON -- One person is dead after a train collided with a truck early this morning.
The driver of the truck died when it was hit by the freight train around 5:00 at Weld County Road 27 and Weld County Road 8. The name of the victim hasn't been released.
Authorities said the train was traveling northbound at the time of the crash. The collision cut the truck in half, which resulted in an explosion and a fire. Part of the truck remained under the locomotive and was discovered on fire nearly a half-mile from the crash scene when firefighters arrived.
The crossing at Weld county Roads 27 and 8 does not have automatic warning devices. Fort Lupton police continue to investigate.
