A lone ice fisherman stands with several geese over the weekend on Barr Lake. Despite lakes and ponds that seem to be covered with thick ice, local fire departments warn people that conditions may not be as safe as they think. Because of the huge fluctuations in temperatures lately, ice loses much of its strength and can be dangerous. The public should not enter on to ice unless it has been verified safe by local authorities.
