Joined by 40 Commerce City police officers, Chief Troy Smith, right, Accepted a cold water challenge from the Brighton Police Department and called out Thornton Police Department, the Colorado Rapids and Adams County Communications. By taking the challenge, each participant pays $10 to the fund. Failure to accept the challenge will cost each participant $100. Water was supplied by an aerial ladder from the South Adams Fire Department.
Roger Tinkleberg, finance director for Commerce City, was dressed for the event as he and nearly 50 city officials and Commerce City police officers took on a cold water challenge to help raise money for the Fallen Officer Memorial Fund.The event was held during Commerce City’s Neighborhood Outreach at Pioneer Park, 5959 Holly St.
