Seventh-grade basketball teams earn split

    Fort Lupton’s seventh-grade basketball teams split their recent games with University. The B team won its game. According to coach Adam Heinritz, one of the main reasons for the win was a dominating shooting performance by Avianna Covarrubias and timely shooting from Alejandra Andrade.
    The A team wasn’t quite so lucky. It led for 20 minutes. But University rallied and won the game by three points.
    “Vanessa Castillo’s compsure with the ball and tenacity on defense gave us a chance to win until the end,” Heinritz said. “Lorra Floodeen showed her versatility playing four positions through the game and doing well in all four.”
    Both teams play their final home game of the season against Estes Park Feb. 8.
