Bringing a wealth of experience, Fort Lupton Chamber of Commerce administrator Sandy Akins is the newest in the role, starting as of last Monday.
Akins, who recently worked at the Eagles Nest retirement home (and still volunteers there), sought a part-time role in the city and found a path to the chamber through her church.
“My pastor told me about the position, and since I was looking for a part-time job, this worked out just fine,” Akins said.
Akins has nearly 30 years of prime business experience in fields that should serve her well promoting the chamber’s interests.
“I ran the distribution, I was actually the traffic control manager for Golden Bell Press in Denver,” Akins said. “I worked sales and marketing for them, also.”
Now Akins plans to bring that marketing savvy to bear for the chamber, by making the community more aware of the benefits the chamber provides.
“I just want to reach out to the community, because I don’t think the community really knows about the chamber,” Akins said. “And also to businesses to make them more aware of the chamber. The chamber can really help a business. It’s great for networking.”
Taking networking to the next level, the June chamber luncheon — set for 11:30 a.m. June 12 at the Fort Lupton Rec Center — will focus on speed networking, a rapid round tabling with business contemporaries. For details or to RSVP, call 303-857-4474. The new chamber hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
