FORT LUPTON – A 12-year-old Brighton girl was killed April 7 following an ATV accident near Weld County Roads 18 and 23.
Kaytee Lynn Eisenbarth, a sixth-grader at Overland Trail Middle School, was riding a newly purchased 500cc ATV about 5 p.m. April 7 when it crashed. Weld County Sheriff's spokesman Tim Schwartz said Eisenbarth was not wearing a helmet and was suffering from a "significant" head injury when deputies arrived.
Her father and grandfather provided medical assistance until emergency crews arrived. Eisenbarth died about an hour later.
“The incident occurred on private property that the victim’s family, who live in the Brighton area, are believed to have been given permission to access,” Schwartz said. Deputies continued to investigate.
Funeral services for Eisenbarth are set for 5 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Northern Hills Christian Church, 5061 E. 160th Ave., Brighton.
Eisenbarth was born Sept. 18, 2000, in Brighton to Scott Eisenbarth and Kelly Wilson. Kaytee attended Northeast Elementary School and was in the sixth grade at Overland Trail Middle School.
Brighton School District 27J spokesman Kevin Denke said grief counselors were at the school April 8 to provide assistance to students and staff.
Kaytee loved to play sports; her favorites were volleyball, soccer and basketball. She loved baking and her animals, especially her dogs, Rocky and Lacey.
She is survived by her parents, Scott Eisenbarth and Janelle Ruff, of Brighton; Kelly Eisenbarth and Brad Engle, of Thornton; paternal grandparents, Bob Eisenbarth, of Brighton, and Julie Proctor, of Brighton; maternal grandparents, Brian and Linda Morgan, of Brighton, and Bob Wilson, of Hanna, Wyo.; maternal great-grandfather, Ted Disher, of Aurora; paternal great-grandmother, Sally Eisenbarth, of Brighton; sisters, Kelsee and Kloee Eisenbarth, of Brighton, and stepbrothers, Josh and Evan Engle, of Thornton.
