The Weld County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration are teaming up for a drug take-back program Saturday in Mead.
It’s available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the town hall, 441 Third St.
Weld County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Steven Reams said rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. “are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.”
“Americans … usual methods for disposing of unused medicines — flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash — pose potential safety and health hazards,” Reams said.
