Memorial Day commemoration services at Fort Lupton’s Hillside Cemetery will begin at 9:15 a.m. Monday, May 27, with a fly-over of vintage airplanes from Platte Valley Airport.
The observance is an annual tradition at the cemetery, which is the final resting place of more than 7,000 people. A community choir, directed by Marilyn Bangert, will perform at 9:30 a.m. singing “Let Freedom Reign.”
Mayor Tommy Holton is scheduled to deliver the welcome. Cecil King, Chaplain of American Legion Post 102, will give the invocation, and Megan Taylor, the adjutant at the post, the address.
The Fort Vasquez chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has been designated to place the memorial wreath. A rifle salute and taps will end the ceremony.
Hillside Cemetery is at 13750 Weld County Road 12. Ample parking is available in the lot on the south side of the cemetery.
