Historic Fort Lupton grand opening - what a night

     We wish to thank everyone involved in the dedication/grand opening of historic Fort Lupton. It was an unforgettable evening from start to finish. It was by turns meaningful, moving, and festive and, in and of itself, an historic event.
   Thank you to the dignitaries who took the time to attend (Gov. Hickenlooper, where were you? You missed a great event,). Thank you to Halliburton, who provided a delicious barbecue dinner to all present. Thank you, Fort Lupton Fire Department, for the magnificent fireworks — your best ever.
     Walking among the tents and teepees in the Trapper’s Village, one could feel past and present intertwine. Due to the hard work and vision of the South Platte Valley Historical Society, we now have in our midst a significant part of our local history made real once again. It is a real point of pride that this was done with donations and volunteer labor.
     Let’s all do everything we can to appreciate and promote the Fort, a fantastic addition to our community and our local economy.
