Harry Milton Petsch

Harry Milton Petsch, a former Brighton resident, died Feb. 16, 2012, in Trenton, Neb., at the age of 87.

                  Born June 21, 1924, Harry graduated from high school in Palisade, Neb., in 1942.  In March 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served with the Service Command Unit in Phoenix until his honorable discharge in February 1946.  While in Arizona, he married his high school sweetheart, Elsie Pearl Gage. 

                  In 1952, they moved to Denver where he worked for Hires and the Royal Crown Bottling Co. In 1967, the couple moved to Brighton, where Harry worked for 10 years for the Great Western Sugar Co. until his retirement in 1977.

                  After retirement, the couple returned to their farm in Nebraska, where Harry enjoyed raising livestock and pursuing his gardening hobby.  In 2002, due to failing health, the couple sold the farm and moved to Palisade, where he resided until his death.  He was laid to rest in Palisade Feb. 20, 2012.

                  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, as well as sisters-in-law, Ethel Petsch of McCook, Neb., Iris Barnes and her husband Darrell of Palisade, and Betty Gage of Aumsville, Ore.;  and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  

                  Harry faced all of his adversities with dignity and patience.  He was a kind and gentle man and will be missed by his many friends and relatives.
