Four firefighters receive awards for January rescue

-A A +A

FORT LUPTON – Four members of the Fort Lupton Fire Department received the Hurst Jaws of Life Green Cross Award for their roles in a rescue operation Jan. 15 north of the city.
Brian Wise, Troy Norby, Tricia Toussaint and James Mayor received certificates, patches and helmet stickers when information about the rescue made it to the files of the Green Cross registry.

A tractor pulling a tanker full of butane crossed from the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 85 into the northbound lanes and went off the eastbound side of the road before rolling over.
The driver was trapped inside for a short time. A small amount of butane leak forced the closure of U.S. 85 for almost two hours. The northbound lanes reopened early the next morning.
Chief Phil Tiffany said the Green Cross is the symbol of recognition for those who have used Hurst Jaws of Life products to save lives.
Wise and another firefighter, Ken Rosales, received meritorious service awards for their actions during this rescue. Norby, Mayor and Toussaint received awards of valor for their actions at this call.
