Fort Lupton pair recovering after Thornton collision

Two Fort Lupton residents are recovering from serious injuries after a crash in Thornton Valentine’s Day afternoon.
Thornton police said the victims were John Phillips, 56, and Janis Phillips, 33. Spokesman Matt Barnes said the two live at the same address, but the accident report doesn’t indicate what their relationship is.
The incident happened at 160th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard shortly before 2:30 p.m. Barnes said the Phillips’ car made an illegal left turn in front of a Ford Taurus. Its driver was an unidentified 27-year-old from Milliken. The Taurus was westbound on 160th Avenue.
Police issued Mr. Phillips a summons for not yielding when turning left in front of traffic.
The driver of the Taurus was not injured. The Phillipses were listed in serious condition at an area hospital Friday afternoon, Barnes said.
