BROOMFIELD -- Fort Lupton High School could not advance any players to the state tournament this season.

The two-day class 4A, Region 5 tournament ended for the Bluedevils May 1 when the last doubles team of Mikayla North and Alisa Long was eliminated from the field. Earlier in the day, the Bluedevils' No. 3 doubles team of Rebecca Schroeter and Kody Woods advanced to a playback round and a chance for one of the two available state tournament slots. But Holy Family's Claudia Pena and Alexi Ginther dispatched the Fort Lupton duo in straight sets.

High winds returned to the three Broomfield courts again May 1, but they were not nearly as strong as they had been during the first day of play. Gusts of up to 40 mph caused a suspension of play.

Schroeter and Kody Woods won their first match at No. 3 doubles and lost in the quarterfinals just before the suspension of play. Norby and Long won in the first round but lost in the quarterfinals early in the afternoon.
