FORT LUPTON – Like it or not, it’s that time of the year. Winter is on its way, and so is Fort Lupton’s Winterfest carnival.
Winterfest is in town all afternoon (1 to 5:15 p.m.) Dec. 4 at the Fort Lupton Recreation Center. 203 S. Harrison Ave., Fort Lupton, and organizers would love to have you come and enjoy the fun activities.
There will be horse and carriage rides (compliments from the Bank of Colorado), helicopter rides, a holiday Gift showcase, and winter and carnival activites for kids.
There’s also a kids concert and even a chance to meet Santa Claus. Santa will arrival via a fire truck, compliments of the Fort Lupton Fire Department. There will be pictures with Santa (for a small additional charge), complimentary hot chocolate, a silent auction and candy canes.
The tree lighting and chili supper ($5 for adults and $3 for kids under 12 – will benefit the 4-H Tailtwisters trip to Washington, D.C., in 2014, and includes a silent auction from 3:45 to 6 p.m.) close out the day. Tickets for the chili supper are available at 720-353-1649 or at 303-857-1210.
Activities start Dec. 3 for those who want to get their game on. The WinterFest softball tournaments for men and coed teams will be at Pearson Park, regardless of weather. Fee is $135 per team, payable by Dec. 1, with a limit of eight teams per division. Contact Doug Cook, adult sports coordinator at 303-857-4200, or at dcook@fortlupton.org. Helicopter rides are $40 per person. Kids carnival tickets are available.
