Ernest P. Blake, 72, of Brighton, passed away Feb. 14, 2012.
He was born Oct. 2, 1939, in Washington County, to Oscar and Agnes (Attebury) Blake. He married Marie Dove Dec. 2, 1958, in Akron.
Ernest lived in the Brighton area since 1974 where he worked for many years as a drilling superintendent. He also worked 17 years for Alpha Surveying in Fort Lupton.
He loved gardening and found the fun in everything he did. He really was a “big kid” who loved life and loved the moments that made his grandchildren cherish their “papa.”
Ernest is survived by his daughters, Renee (Joel) Crowe, of Fort Lupton, and Jill (Jerry) Unrein, of Brighton; brother, Earl Blake, of Brush; sisters, Barbara Merrill, of Fort Morgan, Mildred Peed, of Denver, and Mary Roschewski, of St. George, Utah; four grandchildren, Alexandria (Brandon Modica) Unrein, Brandi Unrein, Blake Crowe and Jessie Crowe; and one great-granddaughter, Adeline Unrein.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife in 2006.
A graveside service was Feb. 17, at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.
Tabor-Rice Funeral Home handled arrangements.
