Elizabeth Cooke of Fort Lupton High School took first place in the Fort Lupton Lions Club speech contest. The theme for this year’s contest was, “What opportunities do young people need to be successful in life in the future?”
Speech instructor Jarrett Henson asked his class to take the challenge; from that class, five were chosen to compete for the title at the March 4 Lions Club meeting.
Cooke placed first with an excellent presentation and will represent Fort Lupton Lions at the Zone competition Saturday, March 16, in Platteville.
Iysha Garcia placed second, Kassandra Guerrero placed third, with Maggie Boggs and Anthony Salcido close behind with excellent presentations.
