Dacono councilwoman Saine to run for Statehoue

-A A +A

DACONO – City councilwoman Lori Saine announced her plans last week to seek the House District 63 seat as a Republican.

“My experience in local government has prepared me for the next big challenge in my life, the statehouse,” Saine, a councilwoman for the past two years, said in a letter to announce her candidacy. “I, with the help of other conservative city council members, maintained a common sense, conservative city government without putting a chokehold on people with taxes and regulations. I’m convinced we need these same conservative principles actively working at the state level as well.”
Saine pointed out she has served the people of Dacono with honor and integrity and without a raise in taxes. She said elected officials have lost touch with their constituents.
“The disconnect between liberal elected officials and hard working Coloradoans like you and me, couldn’t be more obvious,” she said. “My family, and most families I know, have had to tighten their belts during these tough economic times.”
She said, instead of tackling those issues, state representatives are considering a bill to subsidize the Hollywood movie industry in Colorado.
“I believe our state needs to get back to the tried and true conservative principles that have made Colorado great,” she said. “Things like keeping our money in our own pockets instead of giving it to Hollywood interests that already make billions a year.”
Saine pledged  to be accountable and do the right things when in office.
“I will continue to serve with integrity and conservative principles,” she said.  “I’ll expect you to be looking over my shoulder, and in our Facebook/Internet world that will be easy for you.”
Saine and her husband, Troy, live in Dacono with their daughter, Alexandra.
