FORT LUPTON -- An unidentified woman died Aug. 21 after a two-car crash north of town.
It happened shortly after 8 p.m. at U.S. Highway 85 and Weld County Road 22. The name of the victim has not been released.
Fort Lupton Fire Chief Phil Tiffany said the woman's car, a 2009 Toyota sedan, apparently didn't yield to oncoming traffic. A northbound Chevrolet pickup truck hit the woman's car broadside at the door. The woman died at the scene. Colorado State Patrol trooper Heather Cobler said there was a stop sign at the intersection.
The driver of the truck, whose name was not released, went to North Colorado Medical Center with unknown injuries, according to the CSP.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 85 were closed for more than four hours. The crash did not affect the southbound side of the road. Fire crews stayed on the scene until 12:30 a.m., according to Fort Lupton Fire Chief Phil Tiffany.
