FORT LUTPON — United Way of Weld County advances the common good for individuals and families in South Weld County by creating opportunities for a better life for everyone through a partnership with the new Family Resource Center of South Weld County. The Family Resource Center is located at 330 Park Avenue in Fort Lupton and houses several nonprofit agencies which provide much needed programs and services to South Weld County residents.
The building was a donation by Weld County commissioners as a way to provide the much-needed services. Fort Lupton Police Chief Ken Poncelow has been the driving force behind bringing the center from concept to reality. “It has been a lot of work bringing so many agencies together,” Poncelow said. “But they are so great to work with, that was the easy part,” he added.
The Family Resource Center does not have set hours as that will be determined by each agency and their schedules. The Center has meeting space available to the nonprofit agency tenants to use, which may be rented out to other nonprofits or companies through those agencies. The overall goal of the Family Resource Center is to provide the services currently being offered in other areas of Weld County to those in the south county communities.
“Thanks to the hard work of Ken Poncelow on developing resources as well as the generosity of several companies, the City of Fort Lupton and the Weld County Government,” said Jeannine Truswell, President & CEO of United Way of Weld County. “This evening’s event serves as a thank you to all that work, but more importantly as the beginning of a great collaboration, and a great resource for the South Weld County communities.”
Agencies present to thank companies and organizations as well as provide a tour of the facilities included:
United Way of Weld County, The Arc, Life Choices (including their mobile unit), Colorado Mounted Rangers, Youth & Family Connections, and A Kids’ Place.
